Asphalt Roofing Shingle Choices

In the past choosing a roof was relatively easy, there were not many choices. This was especially noticeable for asphalt shingle roofs. Just about every roof had a 20 year 3 tab charcoal asphalt shingle. Every now and then you would see a radical color choice like brown or green or maybe the exotic red. But that is the past and times have changed.

A charcoal color or black color is still the most popular but 3 tab is slowly getting replaced as the standard by an architectural style asphalt roofing shingles. Who thought that roofing material could have so much style, this isn't fancy slate. The architectural shingle is installed just like 3 tab asphalt shingles. It can even be layered on top of a 3 tab roof. And the price is not much more than 3 tab with the same 30 year warranty.

The architectural shingle can come in many colors: browns, blacks, greens, etc. Because the pattern is a little irregular compared to 3 tab, it adds a lot of texture and style to the roof. This little bit of style on a normally bland part of the house, the roof, can give a home an updated feel.

But right now, 3 tab asphalt roofing shingles are still the norm. But why be normal, venture out to the architectural shingle world. Your home will thank you and your neighbors will too.
